Coaching & Mentoring

A common approach to learning and development is the 70-20-10 rule.

  • 70% of learning happens through on-the-job experience.

  • 20% of learning happens socially through colleagues and friends.

  • 10% of learning happens via formal training experiences.

Developing new skills, ways of working or changes in behaviour will often start with a training course. It is what happens after the training course that will make a difference to how far you develop or learn new skills.

For most, attending a training course will be followed by going straight back to the job without support and guidance to apply learnings. Too often you can get caught-up back in day to day work forgetting to take time out to embed and sustain new learning - the 20%

Not all businesses have the skills or knowledge to be able to this and having objective experienced outside the business can be very helpful to bridge this gap. It is this 20% of support that makes the difference to embedding and sustaining learning and development in change
